Home » Rock Climbing and Rappelling in Rishikesh

Rishikesh, the adventure capital of India, is famous not only for river rafting and world-famous pilgrims but also for rock climbing and rappelling over the natural rocks. With the Shivalik Himalayas as a backdrop, these activities combine adrenaline with nature’s raw beauty.
Unlike artificial climbing walls, Rishikesh offers real quartzite cliffs and waterfall descents that challenge your body and mind. An experience that makes its way into every traveler’s story.
Location: Shivpuri, Tapovan, Phoolchatti, and Neergarh Waterfall cliffs.
Height range: 40–70 ft natural quartzite rock faces.
Unique Experience: No fixed grips—every move is about balance, focus, and technique.
Who Can Do It: Beginners to advanced climbers, guided by certified instructors.
Climbing natural rock helps you develop problem-solving skills, stamina, and confidence. It’s not just a sport but a complete mental workout against real rock faces.
Rappelling (abseiling) is the art of descending cliffs with the help of a rope, harness, and belay device. In Rishikesh, you get two exciting versions:
Dry Cliff Rappelling – Lean back and descend vertical rock faces up to 70 ft high.
Waterfall Rappelling – At Neer Garh waterfalls, rappel down a cascade while icy water splashes around you. It’s one of the most thrilling experiences in Rishikesh.
Both versions are done under the supervision of professional mountaineers, using UIAA/CE-certified equipment.
October to June → Best months for dry and waterfall rappelling.
