Chopta Uttarakhand

Chopta is the base campsite for all the trekkers that come near the Chopta hills. The wide green fields or alpine grasslands called “Bugyal”, invite you to put down your tents (if you have your own). To lay your tent, you must have a permit from the forest department of Chopta.

Best Time for Chopta Camping

Winter Camping – October to March: The winter season invites you to the best view of the majestic Himalayan peaks. Your camping and trekking experience will become wonderful because of snow and snowfall. Chopta to Chandrashila is one of the best winter trekking and camping sites in Chopta.
Note: Mid of July to the last of September, camping, and trekking are closed due to heavy rainfall. Please note if the climate (temperature) goes down to 0, -5, or -10, and so on, camping will close in winter seasons due to safety reasons.
How to reach Chopta
By Road, Chopta is well connected with other cities via road. Chopta comes in the way of Ukhimath Road. One can easily book buses or taxis from all major towns of Uttarakhand.
By Train, Rishikesh and Haridwar are the nearest railway stations to reach Chopta. It is only 210 km away from Rishikesh city. Good facilities are available for transportation to Chopta.
By Air, Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport which is in Dehradun, only 226 km from Chopta.
